Montegrappa 1912 - Fine Writing Jewels - Limited Editions

Montegrappa recounts one of the most poetical and moving love stories ?Romeo & Juliet?, encompassing four hundred years of emotions and theatrical performances through two unique and unforgettable writing instruments. It is in fact Shakespeare?s work that inspired the 1995 annual edition. The story of the two adolescents that discover love amongst the hatred and hostility that divide the veronese families Montecchio and Capuleti, was in fact written in 1524 by Luigi da Porto, of Vicenza. Having sought refuge in Montorso, following a heavy battle wound, he wrote the ?Istoria novellamente ritrovata di due nobili amanti?. It was later translated and re-written by Arthur Brooke in 1562. They say that Luigi da Porto, imagined that the sad story happened in Verona at the beginning of the 14th century contemplating the view of Montecchio?s castle. Through this collection Montegrappa celebrates the authors, the story, love and the places that were the scene of the play, located at a short distance from Bassano del Grappa. Tastefully and elegantly designed by Leopoldo Aquila, each fountain pen of this edition is characterised by a clip that reproduces the charming lovers, using the superb skill of Montegrappa?s master engravers. The intricate decoration in sterling silver is set off by the designs of the historic period in which the story is set. The collection included 3,500 fountain pens in sterling silver and 150 in 18K gold. The pen dedicated to the romantic Romeo has an octagonal shape, whereas the one inspired from Juliet?s beauty and charm is cylindrical. These pens may be available on the collectors market.
