The Two Roses Collection
Print Send To A Friend
In 1994 Montegrappa dedicated the two roses collection to two important British families, the Yorks and the Lancasters. A red and white rose decorated the coats of arms of the Yorks and of the Lancasters, both descendants of the royal house of the Plantagenets. From 1455 until 1485 the two families fought each other for the succession to the throne of England. After alternating fortunes and violent disputes, the issue was settled with the disappearance of the competing dynasties and the ascent to the throne of Henry Tudor, the last heir of the Lancaster who married a York, daughter of Edward IV. These pens may be available on the collectors market.

The annual edition of 1994 is represented by two superb fountain pens made of sterling silver with a themed decoration subject. The different styles, in which the artist has engraved and represented floral and heraldic subjects, sets off with elegance and top craftsmanship, the two marvelous fountain pens. The idea to use two different shapes, octagonal for the annual collection dedicated to the Yorks and cylindrical for the fountain pen of the Lancaster dynasty, reflects the borderline that divided the two families. These pens may be available on the collectors market.
