The superb view of Saint Peter?s Cathedral, built between 1657 and 1666 by the Neapolitan architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini to house the historic pulpit from where Saint Peter preached to the believers. An impressive work of art illuminated by the magnificent stained glass window that dominates it, The Graces: here the Holy Ghost is represented as a white dove emanating luminous rays of light in countless colours, symbol of the Divine Grace. This fascinating picture is the principal source of inspiration for the collection Tertio Millenio Adveniente, introduced by Montegrappa in 1998 for the celebration of the Jubilee. The name of the limited edition and the choice of the subject are to be found in the opening words and content of the Apostolic Letter Tertio Millenio Adveniente of Pope John Paul II. According to this document, 1998 is the year dedicated to the Holy Ghost. The use of three different techniques, at the top of handcraft, on the same subject for this collection, has symbolic value: low-relief engraving, hot enamelling, die-casting. The clip is crowned by the image of St. Peter?s keys, the symbol of the Papal States. The symbology can be found again on the cap?s top, adorned with the papal red colour of the cornelian or the coral cabochon for the gold version. Equipped with a piston filling system, it is the first Montegrappa fountain pen with a two-tone nib of such a large size. The Tertio Millenio Adveniente is manufactured in 1,912 pieces in sterling silver and was available 100 pieces in 18K gold, individually numbered on the blinded cap. The gold fountain pens may be available on the collectors market.
